I NEED A MEME!

I’m still mildly grumpy (it’s sunny out, what’s up with my mood?), have a touch of a headache and a stiff neck (oh, that might be why I’m in a mood), have Cub Scouts tonight with A, and want to get something out so my 2 1/2 readers don’t fall off the face of the earth, convinced I have joined a commune in the foothills of Boulder or something. I found this meme over at PediaScribe…thanks, Karen!

What kind of soap is in your bathtub right now? Kirkland (Costco) moisturizing bar. Pretty darned boring, though it does smell good.

Do you have any watermelon in your refrigerator? Um, no. We’re kinda past watermelon season here.

What would you change about your living room? Well, painting over the builder-grade “we’re going to slap this up and since we’re running behind schedule you’ll want to move in so badly you won’t complain” white would be a good start.

Are the dishes in your dishwasher clean or dirty? Clean

What’s in your fridge? Food. Drink. An unholy amount of condiments…I blame my father. ; )

White or wheat bread? 100% whole wheat

What is on top of your refrigerator? Besides that goo made up of dust and grease that only I can see because I am of Amazon Woman height? It’s the “toy time-out”: box of crayons, a kaleidoscope, a box of foam shapes, a toy from a birthday goodie bag, a light saber for Halloween, and a box of Kleenex.

What color or design is on your shower curtain? Beige linen with buttons, the boys’ bathroom is clear with mesh pockets

How many plants in your home? I have the Houseplant That Won’t Die, given to me 10 years ago by my college roommate for my birthday. Seriously, this thing goes to the brink and pops back. It.Will.Not.Die. Oh, and a couple of aloe vera plants. Everything else succumbs to my black thumb.

Is your bed made right now? For the next hour or so, then I’m crashing

Comet or Soft Scrub? Depends on what I’m cleaning…and once they’re gone, I’m going chemical-free.

Is your closet organized? Yes, but I still don’t have anything to wear

Can you describe your flashlight? Why? It’s not like I can ever find it (thanks, boys).

Do you drink out of glass or plastic most of the time at home? Plastic water bottle. Yes, they’re evil, completely responsible for global warming, but I have tried to use cups/glasses/reusable water bottles. They don’t work for me. I can carry those in my purse, they don’t fit in the cup holders in my van, and I need something that won’t spill onto my computer. Oh, and I love the little water bottle mix-ins you can get at the store; I’m finding that using those and a water bottle ups my water intake quite a bit.

Do you have iced tea made in a pitcher right now? Nah, a little too cool outside. In the summertime I always have iced tea, though.

If you have a garage, is it cluttered? Despite my best efforts, yes. I need to get some sort of small shed to put the bicycles in.

Curtains or blinds? Mostly blinds. The curtains tend to be simply decorative. The east side of the house has white faux wood blinds, the west side of the house has light and heat reducing blinds that cost a fortune but really do keep the heat out.

How many pillows do you sleep with? One, and it sucks. Every pillow I use sucks. Why oh why can’t I find a decent pillow? No wonder my neck hurts all the time.

Do you sleep with any lights on at night? NO! Bleh.

How often do you vacuum? Only when the crunching underfoot sends me over the edge. I figure, why bother? The builder-grade crap underfoot won’t get clean, no matter what I do. And even when it’s freshly vacuumed, you can feel the rocks and drywall chunks and grit under the carpet because the idiot builder didn’t sweep before installing the carpet, despite our begging to please, Oh God, please do just that.

Standard toothbrush or electric? Standard, though I think I have a cheapo electric I got at the store with a big ole’ coupon.

What color is your toothbrush? Green? Aqua? I have no idea.

Do you have a welcome mat on your front porch? Yes, but it is so filthy that you can’t read the welcome. I think I need a new mat.

What is in your oven right now? The charred remains of the last four years worth of oven use. I think I need to clean the oven. And I think I need to up my cleaning schedule.

Is there anything under your bed? Um…what have you heard?

Chore you hate doing the most? See vacuuming….

What retro items are in your home? You know, I love retro-y items, and I don’t think I have any! Wracking my brain here…and I’m retro-less.

Do you have a separate room that you use as an office? Oh, I WISH! I have a corner of the kitchen for my home office and a room in the basement for scrapbooking.

How many mirrors are in your home? Five

Do you have any hidden emergency money in your home? Really, ya think I’m putting that info up on the internets for God and the whole world to read?

What color are your walls? Oh, they run the gamut from the aforementioned builder-grade white crap to reds and blues and purples.

Do you keep any kind of protection weapons in your home? Again, ya think I’m putting that info up on the internets for God and the whole world to read? I have two sons who are learning to fart on command; I’d call that a protective weapon.

What does your home smell like right now? Caramel vanilla Yankee candle…FYI, those candle warmers don’t work very well. Just burn the candle; you get a better smell.

Favorite candle scent? Baking or vanilla scents. But I really love anything jasmine. Mmmm…

What kind of pickles (if any) are in your refrigerator right now? Homemade dill pickles from the plethora of cucumbers I got from the CSA.

What color is your favorite Bible? I don’t have a favorite Bible.

Ever been on your roof? Uh, no. Should I have been? Something I don’t know?

Do you own a stereo? Oh yeah, we’re well-stereoed here. And I listen to internet radio and my iPod.

How many TV’s do you have? 2

How many house phones? 3

Do you have a housekeeper? Let’s see…I don’t vacuum, my welcome mat isn’t very welcoming, and my oven is a fire hazard. I’m starting to think I should fire myself and hire a professional.

What style do you decorate in? The same style I grew up with: Post-collegiate/we have small kids/must be scotch-garded. My stye of decorating is so sad. I don’t like it, but I don’t know how to decorate, and I’m too cheap to experiment.

Do you like solid colors in furniture or prints? Solid, but they must be easily cleanable.

Is there a smoke detector in your home? Oh hell yeah! I think we have something like 7 or 8.

What are the items in your house which you’d grab if you only could make one quick trip? Assuming everyone in my family is safe, I’d grab the scrapbooks and my flute. Everything else can go.

And that only took me 6 hours to complete…ay yi yi…play along if you’re interested!
