One Brave mother

Disney! You did it! I’m so proud of you! Sniff…I knew you had it in ya!

You made another movie that didn’t have a dead mother! Granted, the mother in Brave isn’t exactly herself for most of the film, as she is being MamaBear in every sense of the phrase. But she’s there! At the beginning, the middle, and the end! I’m beyond thrilled. Mrs. Incredible is still my gal, simply because she’s a (take this with a heavy dose of suspension of disbelief) real life mom keeping her family together while kicking ass and taking names.

Keep it goin’, Disney. No need to kill off the moms. They work too hard to be knocked off for plot.

  1. I can’t tell you how much I hate that Pixar is now a Disney company. I refuse to think of Brave as a Disney movie – though the reviews I have read make me think that the Disney taint has rubbed off onto Pixar, but I haven’t had a chance to see it yet.

Tangled (Rapunzel) has a mom and a dad too, although she’s raised by the old woman. In the Jungle Book 2, Mowgli is adopted by a mom and a dad. Those are two of our current favorites. I blame Nemo for my son’s intense separation anxiety. I may just get snapped up by a barracuda at any moment.

Whaddya think?
