Don’t get around much anymore

I don’t know how it happened. I don’t know when it happened. I don’t know why it happened.

Tom and I can’t remember the last time we went out to a movie.

I blame the move. I’m blaming everything on the move for the rest of the year. Maybe next year too.

We think the last flick we saw together in a theater may have been Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End. Four some-odd years ago. This doesn’t include movies to which we took the boys, like Toy Story 3 (where I sobbed like a sloppy fool), but just the two of us. The last movie I saw? Spy Kids 4…90 minutes of my life I’d like back, thankyouverymuch. Can’t remember the last non-kid movie I saw outside the house.

I don’t get around much anymore.

There are so many movies coming out this fall that we’d like to see and just won’t. They’re expensive as hell and usually not worth it. So we have to balance movies that would be best seen in a theater vs movies that can wait til rental.

One we absolutely will see is The Muppets. I think I speak for all Gen-Xers when I say PleaseDon’tSuckPleaseDon’tSuckPleaseDon’tSuck.

Oh yeah.

I’ll even get popcorn.

  1. We never go to the movies either. If I’m going to spend that kind of money on going out, I’d rather have someone cook for me and a date (husband) I can actually talk with.

That said, we are planning to be All Over that Muppet movie – in ENGLISH, not dubbed into Hebrew! So there kids, take that!

We don’t do movies much. When we actually do have the chance to have time together, we tend to like to talk to each other. LOL. Then there is the insane cost. I’d rather spend $50 for sushi than on a movie 🙂

  3. I’m there, too. Although I have to say that both of us working from home has allowed us to play hooky a few times and catch the Tuesday $5 special at the art house. That’s cool.

But I’m with you on the Muppets. Friday, first showing, I am so there. With popcorn.

  4. If a movie theater would keep the volume off 11, the air conditioning/heat at a comfortable level, pause while I fill my bowl with ice cream and use the bathroom and prevent people and their children from doing anything to disrupt my viewing pleasure… I’d go. Meanwhile I wait for Netflix too.

Whaddya think?
