Oy. Somehow I got roped into planning and teaching preschool church camp this summer. This is not a good fit for me. It’s been a billion years since I went to church camp, I didn’t go to church until I got married…really, anyone would have been a better choice. But since I have small kids, and have been active in the music program and everyone knows me, hey, Jen’s a good choice, go ask her! OY! I’m dyin’ here. I’m going to have a room full of 3-4 year olds and some middle school helpers. At least A won’t be in my class; that’s guaranteed chaos.

Why am I unable to say no? I’m getting a lot better than I used to, but dang, if there was ever a time for me to have a firm NO handy, this is it! I’ll be working on that or I’ll be living at A’s school this year. It’s a charter school, with 40 hours of required volunteer hours (yeah, they require volunteer hours) per family. I have no problem volunteering, I was there last night helping tear down the year and set up for next year. I just don’t want to be overwhelmed with it all.

OY VEY.

It’s so hard to say no, so I’m right there with you. I’m learning to sit on my hands and just let them know that I can’t because of family time. I did so much for the kids this last year and I always told them it was for their school, but actually it took me away from them. I resolve to make the next school year a little easier on the kids with PTA meetings. Hold me to it?

Whaddya think?
