While it’s good to be home after being away, getting back into the swing of things ain’t easy, especially when you have company as well. There’s laundry to be done, and bags to unpack, and goals to set, and plans to make, and emails (oh, the emails) to read and respond to. I’m now up for air and looking around…much like the damned groundhog, who called for six more weeks of winter. Jerk. I would have called for the immediate cessation of winter, with the commencement of hot days and balmy nights. And a frou-frou umbrella drink.

Speaking of the best of intentions, I’m not caucusing tonight. Not that I don’t want to, but I can’t. See, for as long as I’ve lived here, Colorado’s caucus has been at the end of March/beginning of April. Far too late to be of any consequence. Several years ago I was seriously ticked off at both parties, and since I didn’t bother to participate in the primary events (because they didn’t freaking count!), I changed my registration to unaffiliated. Fast forward to current events. Colorado moved up the caucus date to today, Super-Duper Uber Double-Secret Probation Fat Tuesday. Yay, we’d count now. And then I missed that unaffiliated voters can’t participate, and then I missed the “change your party affiliation” date at the beginning of December. Why? Because I’m a dork. A 100% follows the news, reads the paper, sends money to candidates she supports, complete dork. I’ve been smacking myself upside the head for weeks. I’m going to soothe my poor political soul by signing up to volunteer at the convention in Denver this summer (a once in a lifetime opportunity) and becoming an election day volunteer (a lifelong opportunity).

I haven’t read a single blog for nearly a week, so I apologize.

Robin has passed along to me some M’Wah bling, for “helping me and cheering me on as I figure out what it means to be the mother of a very special child.”

I’m honored. It’s so tough to be the momma of a very special child, and let me tell you, ya need all the support you can get. I know I can email Robin with a rant (usually with a glass of red in hand) and know that she’s been through it or is going through it and will know that even at my most hysterical that I still love my boys and I’m not really going to put them on eBay for the lowest bidder. I’m going to pass this bit ‘o slobbery love to Karen for her wittiness, complete honesty, and just overall fun-ness. Yes, fun-ness is a word. And if you’re not familiar with her husband’s podcast, shame on you! Dr. Mike and Pediacast is required listening for parents. Subscribe to it, stick it on the iPod, and go nuts. Great stuff.

There was something else, but my brain is a wee bit foggy, as I am cutting back on my coffee consumption. Methinks my coffee intake may be doing bad things to my stomach. Eh, whatever. Laundry calls.

  1. I swear our lives are sometimes very eerily similar! Although I have the girls and you have the boys.

I too will be missing out on one of the most exciting days to vote in this country. I’ve always been registered unaffiliated and this is the first year I have actually regretted it.

I will be there in November the day it matters most.

  2. You can have your hot days and balmy nights. I am sweating, I mean glowing, my arse off here in Oz..

I had to read the first part of your post a couple of times, I had no idea what caucusing was!

here every one has to vote. It is the law. One of my girlfriends voted for Osama Bin Laden. (we have hand written ballots)

    Stupid bint.
