This could have been A

Has anyone else seen this news story? A six year old girl was trying to get a pair of scissors, standing on a wheeled office chair, and the chair moved. She stabbed herself in the neck with the scissors when she fell, and she died.

This is beyond horrifying. This could have easily been my son. I cannot count the number of times I have hauled A off of my wheeled office chair, trying to reach something above my desk, including my scissors. They’re up high for a reason, likely the same reason this girl’s parents had theirs above the fridge. I have always been afraid of A falling off my chair, mainly because I don’t want him to land on my laptop, but also because of the “what if” factor.

So now what do I do? Do I get a different office chair? Move everything down from above my desk? Duct tape the boys to the floor until they marry? All of the above? I’m shaken to the core. That poor family.

Whaddya think?
