Wrapping paper or gift bags?

Depends what the gift is. Or rather, who wrapped it. I hate wrapping gifts with a deep passion (yes, I see the irony that papercrafts is my hobby, but I still hate wrapping gifts). So if it comes in a gift bag, I wrapped it. If it’s wrapped with paper, Tom did it.

Real tree or artificial?

Fake. I can’t justify spending the money to kill a tree, just to watch it die…uh…just to take it down and throw it away later.

When do you put up the tree?

Usually the week after Thanksgiving…or whenever we get around to it.

When do you take the tree down?

The week after Christmas. By then I want my living room back.

Do you like eggnog?

Not really. Eggs make me ill, so drinking raw eggs is a bad idea. But our local dairy has a killer egg nog that Tom loooooves (and it’s only like, 95% fat), so I have one swallow a year.

Favorite gift received?

The engagement ring from Tom 13 years ago. 🙂

Do you have a nativity scene?

I have a small collection. Very small. Two. One was a wedding gift; it’s carved from one piece of wood and the different images push out. The other is my favorite, it’s so cute. It’s a bunch of little kids, dressed up for the Nativity scene. Makes me smile, especially the little Wise Man who is carrying “Mur.” I want to get the Willow Tree Nativity someday, and I have flat-out told a gentleman at church who makes Nativity Scenes that I want one, name your price. If it’s handmade, it has a story, and I’ve seen his work, he’s incredible.

Hardest person to buy for?

My dad! And my brother’s wife. Good grief people, get a hobby so I can buy gifts! LOL!

Easiest person to buy for?

Me. I know exactly what I want. LOL!

Worst Christmas gift you ever received?

Hmm…can’t think of anything. No, wait…let’s go with the year our house was broken into as we were celebrating Christmas with my mom’s family, three months after my grandfather died.

Mail or email Christmas cards?

Mail. I did the email thing last year and it was a bust. I’m kinda ticked off that the cards have fallen on me the last couple of years. It’s usually Tom’s thing. He writes an amusing letter, prints it off, and all I have to do is print labels and slap on a stamp. This year I took the photo, chose the photo, uploaded the photo to Costco, ordered the Christmas card, printed the labels, printed our info labels to go on the back of the photo card, picked up the cards, and bought stamps. All this in the last 30 hours. Tonight Tom is slapping all the labels and stamps on and I’m going to a recital.

Favorite Christmas movie?

National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. Squirrel!!!!!

When do you start shopping for Christmas?

When it hits me how much I have to do and how little time I have in which to do it all. I’m almost done.

Have you ever recycled a Christmas present?

Oh, I’m sure I have.

Favorite thing to eat at Christmas?

Whatever isn’t nailed down. This is a problem.

Clear lights or colored on the tree?

Clear.

Favorite Christmas song?

“I Farted on Santa’s Lap.” I haven’t heard it in a couple of years, I may need to search for it and get it on my iPod. Oh, and I looooove Barenaked Ladies’ “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen.”

Travel at Christmas or stay home?

Stay home. I’m tired of traveling at the holidays with my cherubs.

Can you name all of Santa’s reindeer?

No.

Angel on the tree top or a star?

Unfortunately, nothing. I have yet to find something I like.

Open the presents Christmas Eve or morning?

Both. The boys get their Christmas jammies on Christmas eve, then everything else the next day.

Most annoying thing about this time of year?

Time flies even faster.

What I love most about Christmas?

The joy people give off…at least when they’re not crabby. LOL!

Tag, you’re it.

Whaddya think?
